Finland vs Spain | Overwatch World Cup 2017 Highlights ft Taimou & Harryhook

Kicking off the Overwatch World Cup 2017 in Group D is the fated encounter of Finland and Spain at the Sydney Qualifier.

Finland came into this series as the heavy favourites with their roster composed of the former members of Rest in Pyjamas (ex-NiP) who form the foundation of the lineup with their experience playing together and is bolstered by the addition of EnVyUs' all-star DPS player Taimou.

What happens when you pit Harryhook against Taimou?

The two players fans had an eye on were Harryhook and Taimou as this series would be a battle between two talented DPS players from the same team. Harryhook is a Flex player on EnVyUs and has become known for his wide pool of heroes that he can play at a high level, but previously acted as the second DPS member of the team prior to shifting roles with the addition of Mickey. During the early days of the competitive Overwatch scene, Harryhook was highly regarded as one of the best Soldier:76 players in the west, but that was then and this is now.

Spain's team posed an interesting problem as it had three players who all play Lucio as their main hero. DhaK and neptuNo previous played as the Lucio for Selfless and Movistar Riders respectively, but have entered the free agent market after both their organizations backed out from competitive Overwatch.

The five free agents on the Spanish team aimed to use the Overwatch World Cup as a stage where they could demonstrate their skills and hopefully catch the eye of team owners and scouts looking to sign new players.

The Overwatch World Cup is an international tournament with the national teams from the 32 participating countries battling it out over the course of the summer in four separate qualifiers around the world hosted in China, Australia, Poland, and the United States.

Two groups will compete at each of the Group Stage qualifiers in a Round Robin format with the top from each group moving onto a single elimination bracket. Each series features four maps with teams seeded based on average Skill Rating. Map priority is given to the higher seeded team for the first map of the series. It is important to remember that these matches are not a best-of-three series and will focus on winning as many maps as possible as the two teams with the most points by the end of the Round Robin stage will advance onto the next round,

The first place team from each group will play the second place team in the opposite group. The winners of this stage will move on to the live playoffs at BlizzCon 2017.
