D'Ron "D1" Maingrette is a Super Smash Bros player and commentator from Brooklyn, NY. We had a chance to sit down with D1 during Battle of BC 2 to get his thoughts on the controversial topic of creating a Smash Bros Commentator Union to set standards for pay and acknowledge the work and dedication of the caster of the community. D1 discusses the potential benefits of having a union, proper tournament budgeting and gives advice on how commentators should set themselves to a higher standard

Even though evidence has yet to surface, CEO organizer Alex Jebailey tweeted that in the event of a union, events such as CEO Dreamland could result in even greater losses than the $20,000 deficit from their previous event.

Regardless of it's authenticity, it is still interesting to discuss the benefits provided by a union and the impact it will have in the improving the community as a whole.
