Cyclowns vs GamersOrigin - Surpassing Expectations | Overwatch Contenders EU Qualifier Highlights

In the second half of the Overwatch Contenders Season Zero EU Open Qualifiers, the unlikely teams of GamersOrigin and a weakened Cyclowns faced off in the finals to determine the number one seed heading into the Bo16 Group Stage.

Based on the results from Day 1, eight teams were given preferential seeding going into Day 2: Cyclowns, NWA, GamersOrigin, Team expert, NiP, ZenGaming, CoolCatClan, and Bounty Hunters were placed in separate arms of the bracket. The first five advanced through the qualifiers with ease while the later three teams who were relatively unknown were not able to advance further into the next day of the tournament.

Cyclowns were denied advancing into the group stage after losing 1-2 to eUnited in the Round of 16, but were able to rebound with their new roster into the finals against Gamers Origin who were the favourites to win the series.

Cyclown have been actively cycling through players and had little time to mesh with their new members who were picked up following the departure of Boombox to eUnited and Mowzassa who went onto join Laser Kittenz. With only a week left before TakeOver 2, Cyclowns shuffled their roster, moving their Flex player poks over to Zenyatta and gave the DPS role to Krytox on Genji who was on loan from Team Singularity while their coach iuKeEe filled in as the Tank. Coming in tied for last place at the $50,000 tournament, Cyclowns realized that what they had was not a sustainable solution and began to look for new talent which resulted in the pick up of Epzz and lateks from the ex-Red Reserve roster.
