Chengdu Hunters - Overwatch League Season 2 Team Preview

The Chengdu Hunters are one of the eight new expansion teams for the Overwatch League in 2019. Their roster is composed of players who are ethnically Chinese, from both Taiwan and mainland China with varying degrees of competitive experience.

Two of their players—Tianbin “Lateyoung” Ma and Xianyao “Yveltal” Li—played for Team China in the 2018 Overwatch World Cup, and coach, Xingrui “Rui” Wang, served as the head coach of Team China.

Huya, a leading game livestreaming platform in China will be the ones handling all team operations in partnership with Royal Never Give Up, a leading Chinese esports organization with international acclaim for their success in League of Legends.

“The Overwatch League is an international league, and the Chengdu Hunters will not only impress the gaming world with their excellent performance but also will bring to the league more Chinese elements, increasing our diversity,” said Wu Zefeng, General Manager of Game Broadcasting Business, HUYA Inc. “The name, Chengdu Hunters, means bravery, smartness, swiftness, and teamwork; the name was chosen as a symbol of the team’s dedication to pursuing the honor of the league."
