Would Shields and Barriers Fundamentally Break VALORANT?

During the early days of VALORANT development, there was an idea for a character known as "The Crusader" that would have a Riot Shield and a Grenade in their kit. According to former lead character designer, Ryan 'Morello' Scott, this character was eventually transformed into Breach.

The fact that at one point in time that Riot Games considered adding a shield-wielding agent poses an interesting question of how shields/barriers would be integrated into VALORANT.
