Winning Against All Odds - [Lunatic-Hai vs RunAway] Quarterfinals Highlights | OGN Overwatch APEX S2

In the winner's match of the Group A quarterfinals at the Overwatch APEX Season 2, we saw the favourites and one highest rated teams in the professional Overwatch scene, Lunatic-hai, face off against one of the most underrated teams at the tournament, Runaway.

Both teams feature amazing Genji players, but heading into this match, even the casters had their bets placed on Lunatic-hai as the likely victors.

Oasis opened with a Lunatic-Hai victory, but it did not come as easy as one might expect from what many expect to be one of the best teams in the world. Heading into Eichenwalde, a map that was well practiced by RunAway, Lunatic-Hai had a difficult point contesting for Point A and were met with opposition every step of the way as the payload moved towards the castle. RunAway were more than ready to play against Lunatic-Hai on this map.

With the map score tied, it was anyone's game. RunAway proved that they could stand up to Lunatic-Hai on the Temple of Anubis as the victor of this map was determined by the slightest mistakes and EsCA's Widowmaker causing the RunAway players to stagger their defense of Point B. On Route 66, both teams narrowly managed a full escort, but when it came down to the tiebreaker, a few clean picks by KAISER and Bumper were able give RunAway enough of an edge to cruise through and claim their second map, tying up the score 2-2.

With the momentum from the last map and victory in their sights, RunAway became the first team to take Lunatic-Hai to a 5th map and were even able to pull off a full hold while defending on Numbani. When attacking, RunAway stormed the payload and tanks to the harassment from KAISER's Winston, Stitch's Pharah, and Haksal's Genji causing chaos, they were able to secure the objective and their spot in the semifinals.

With this unexpected victory, RunAway have secured a spot for themselves in the semi-finals while Lunatic-Hai will have to fight against Kongdoo Uncia in the losers bracket of Group A to keep their tournament dreams alive and move on as the second seed.

RunAway's team captain, Runner, was so overjoyed that he accidentally broke the cover of the air conditioning for one of the player booths after his team's victory.
