The last time we talked about Activision Blizzard, it was about the delay of Overwatch 2 and the uncertainty and grim outlook it brought to the Overwatch League.

Unfortunately for the company, the state of Overwatch 2 and the Overwatch League aren’t their only concern on the esports side of things like the Call of Duty League is also in trouble. Considering the long history of Call of Duty and the dedication and loyalty of its diehard fans, the state of the Call of Duty League may come as a huge surprise to casual observers of the scene.

While the creation of the Call of Duty League had the clear intention of making Call of Duty a top-tier 1 esports, Activision Blizzard has led the scene down the wrong path and has only pushed the goal further away. So how did Activision Blizzard take one of the most popular games with a huge dedicated fanbase to where it is now and fail to create a top esports scene?
