What Happened To Omega Strikers?

Date: April 18, 2024, 3:00 pm

What happens when a game launches with seemingly everything you could ask for in a new game but still seemed to be missing something crucial?

In this video, we’ll be taking a look into the rapid rise and tragic fall of Omega Strikers.

What is Omega Strikers?

Omega Strikers is a free-to-play action sport video game by Odyssey Interactive, a new development studio founded by former employees of Riot Games.

The game, which was best described as a 3vs3 “foot-brawler” was a soccer game mixed with MOBA elements thanks to its roster of unique characters with their own abilities. The game was notably released on every console with cross-play enabled immediately on launch, something that’s incredibly rare within the industry.

What Happened to Omega Strikers?

Despite an ambitious marketing campaign which had support from other platforms like Nintendo, a popular music video created in collaboration with Studio Trigger, and a ton of hype built up by a highly successful content creator event as a part of its launch, the game failed to retain player numbers throughout the months past its launch.

Eventually, with an average of 500 players on Steam, the dev team made the decision to move on from the game and announced that they would be sunsetting the game.
