The Longest Games In Esports History

Date: May 9, 2024, 2:00 pm

For most players, being stuck in a match for anything longer than 40 minutes already gets annoying and exhausting. But imagine what happens when a match reaches one hour, two hours, three hours, or even days. This is the story of some of the longest games ever played in esports history.

What are some of the longest matches in esports?

While the longest match in a competitive mode goes to the Age of Empires match between Rebenstock and Andre_2i which lasted 98 hours, a professional match for most games isn’t anywhere close to that time. Instead most of the records rest within the 3-4 hour mark. The only game that’s the exception to this within this list is League of Legends which has its longest match clocking in at just around an hour and a half.

Will we see any of these records being broken in the future?

For fans of marathon games like this, there’s only bad news from here. As most developers push towards making their game faster, it’s very likely that we’ll never see most of these records broken at any point in the future. That’s not to say it’ll be impossible. Metas will come and go and all it takes is a couple changes that go too far to enable long drawn out games again. So maybe one day everything will line up and one of these records will be broken.
