The First Platform Fighting Game To Rival Smash? - Rivals of Aether
Rivals of Aether is a fighting game created by Dan Fornace that has over the years come into its own as an esport.
Inspired by Super Smash Bros. Melee, the gameplay mechanics in Rivals of Aether share many similarities but also have incorporated creative aspects such as element-based attacks or passive abilities that can affect the stage.
While it may have started off in obscurity or regarded as a "smash clone" the game has come into its own with a unique cast of characters and game design that has attracted a passionate community around RoA.
In today's video, we take a deep dive into the world of competitive Rivals of Aether and the story of the community that has elevated title into an esport.
We would like to thank everyone in the Rivals of Aether community who took the time to speak with us for this video and help make it possible!
