Sweden vs Portugal | Overwatch World Cup 2017 Highlights

In the second match of the day at the 2017 Overwatch World Cup Group Stage in Sydney Australia, Team Sweden goes up against Team Portugal.

Team Sweden are one of the favourites to win the entire tournament as they feature a roster with some of the most experienced Overwatch players in Europe. The Swedish committee was planning on using the Misfits roster, but after reached the conclusion of TakeTV, a last minute change to make it more fair for the Swedish fans and playerbase saw chipsajen and CWoosH join the team.

The Portugal roster features the Laser Kittenz duo of Greyy and Mowzassa, members of a team that played in Overwatch Contenders Season 0 and qualified for Overwatch Contenders Season 1 after taking home a Top 4 finish in a tournament with the strongest teams in Europe. Addicted and Phatt while not from a renowned organization, come from the Portuguese team k1ck eSports Club and will be out ot prove themselves on the international stage against some of the best players in the world.

While Sweden may have been the favourites to win this series on paper, Portugal made a huge statement today by taking the second and third maps, forcing Sweden into a state of desperation and ended the day tied 2-2.

The Overwatch World Cup is an international tournament with the national teams from the 32 participating countries battling it out over the course of the summer in four separate qualifiers around the world hosted in China, Australia, Poland, and the United States.

Two groups will compete at each of the Group Stage qualifiers in a Round Robin format with the top from each group moving onto a single elimination bracket. Each series features four maps with teams seeded based on average Skill Rating. Map priority is given to the higher seeded team for the first map of the series. It is important to remember that these matches are not a best-of-three series and will focus on winning as many maps as possible as the two teams with the most points by the end of the Round Robin stage will advance onto the next round,

The first place team from each group will play the second place team in the opposite group. The winners of this stage will move on to the live playoffs at BlizzCon 2017.
