We had the opportunity to talk to some of the competitors of the ESL PUBG Invitational at Gamescom 2017, catching up on their thoughts on the state of the game, the Invitational and other interesting topics. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, commonly known as PUBG, is developed and published by Bluehole studio in South Korea. PUBG is a multiplayer online battle royale video game has taken the gaming world by storm and has quickly become one of the most popular games on steam.

For Gamescom 2017, Bluehole and ESL organized the first Battlegrounds invitational tournament, with a $350,000 prize pool. Events were held separately for solo players, two-player teams, two-player teams fixed to first-person perspective, and four-player squads. Each event featured three matches, with the player or team scoring the highest across all three named winners.
