OWL Stage 4 Patch Incites Outrage, Finals Head To New York & Poor Viewership Numbers | Akshon Recap

After it was made public that Stage 4 of the Overwatch League would be played on the May 1st patch instead of the update on May 3rd which featured the new Hanzo ability updates and nerfs to several heroes, the community was in an uproar across Reddit and the Blizzard forums.

A petition was started in an effort to have Blizzard change the patch for the final stage of the OWL season, but it's uncertain how effective it will be in influencing the decision makers at the Overwatch League.

According to a post by Florida Mayhem analyst yeHHH, both teams and their players were also dissatisfied with the May 1st patch planned to be implemented for Stage 4 and have approached Blizzard with their concerns

For the first time since launching at the start of the year, the Overwatch League will be leaving the Blizzard Arena Los Angeles studio later this summer as the finals are set to be held at the Barclay Center located in New York City.

Courtesy of a report from the Esportsobserver, there has been a decline in viewership numbers during Stage 3 playoffs of the Overwatch League.
