In Overwatch, if you can take control of the high ground, you are often able to control the tempo of the game. Depending on the map, proper positioning that makes use of the verticality of the environment can make it challenging for an attacking team to capture an objective.
During the Shanghai Dragon's match against the New York Excelsior in the 2020 Overwatch League May Melee, we were given a master class performance in high ground control by the eventual champions of the tournament.
