What happened to Bethesda?

How did the legendary studio behind The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3, Oblivion, Morrowind, and Skyrim go from being one of the most beloved RPG developers of all time to releasing games like Fallout 76 and Starfield?

In this video, we explore the complete history of Bethesda Game Studios, from its early days creating hardcore RPGs like Arena and Daggerfall, to the company’s acquisition by Zenimax Media, which fueled the rise of Todd Howard, the success of Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, and how it all culminated with arguably their best game: Skyrim.

After this, things start to change for the worse. Bethesda begins creating more streamlined experiences aimed at a broader audience. This includes a shift toward voice acting, simplified RPG mechanics, settlement building in Fallout 4, the disastrous launch of Fallout 76, and Starfield failing to live up to expectations despite years in development.

Can Bethesda recover some of its former glory? Or are they truly past their prime?
