At one point in time, Starcraft was one of the biggest esports in the world. From Starcraft: Brood War to Starcraft 2, the series has withstood the test of time and was one of the first games that put esports on the map. But in recent years, the perennial titan has fallen off as esports has boomed into a billion-dollar industry.
Despite this, while no longer the largest title on the market, Starcraft is still around. Unfortunately, with so much time since its release, and Blizzard slowly ramping down support for the game, it feels like the end is getting closer and closer. However, with Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Activision Blizzard, could we see a resurgence of Starcraft 2? This is the state of Starcraft in 2022.
