Toronto Defiant are a professional Overwatch team owned by OverActive Media. Ahead of joining the Overwatch League in 2019, the organization tasked Akshon Media with creating a series of content pieces to help launch their brand and generate interest heading into their debut season.
To create compelling content for the Toronto Defiant brand and talent, we traveled to South Korea to film and produce a six-episode mini series titled “Becoming Defiant” that documented the team’s preseason bootcamp experience. The series gave fans a behind the scenes look into the life of the Defiant as they trained for their first season as a team. Because the team was composed primarily of Korean speaking players, our goal was to bridge the gap with western audiences, building exciting storylines and personalizing the athletes.
Akshon was also tasked with fully producing the team announcement video as well as the player reveal trailers to drum up excitement with the Overwatch League fan base.
